[Proposal] [OOC] [On-going] [At-vote] Ranked Choice Voting in Presidental Elections
We need a fairer more democratic system for our presidential elections in the situation when their is 3 or more candidates in the president elections rather than first past the vote.
My idea would be ranked choice voting
Let's say their is 3 candidates running Rat Rabbit and Lion. Your scared of lion and meh to rat. But you love rabbit. But you know rabbit isn't going to get a lot of votes and you fear lion so you vote rat.
However with the Rank System you can number your favorite and least favorite candidates.
1. Rabbit
2. Rat
3. Lion

It's an interesting idea that I would like to see put into action in the future. Maybe a test election to see how smooth it could run...? Nevertheless, an actual outline of what you want this to look like in your own words would give us a base to vote on. The explanation you gave above is nice, but a bit more elaboration from you, or the explanation in the video would be great.
Re: [Proposal] [OOC] [On-going] [At-vote] Ranked Choice Voting in Presidental Elections
It is Honorias's understanding that the presidential election that was undertaken this past month was exceptional, in that normally the president is selected alongside the rest of the Security Council. As such, Honorias is concerned that the representative from Teddyland is suggesting to use the alternative vote system for the entire Security Council election process. We find this to be entirely unnecessary when so many Security Council candidates find themselves running unopposed for office; there are very few continents in the World Alliance that can boast more than two politically-active nations as it stands. Alternative voting seems unnecessary in the current circumstances of the World Alliance, with so few active candidates for either the Security Council seats or the presidential office, and thus Honorias is opposed to this proposal at this time.

While Honorias is opposed to this proposal, I urge you to continue with this proposal as it is a great alternative to just voting for one candidate. Therefore, I declare that the Holy Empire of Anx Minor supports this proposal and hopes to see it implemented in the future elections.

Carolina is overwhelmingly in favor of this proposal, in order to have a totally fair and representative voting system.

I currently want it ONLY for presidential elections when their is more than 2 candidates running for president to stop the "spoiler effect"
Here is it explained again
"Instead of voting only for a single candidate, in IRV, voters can rank the candidates in order of preference. Ballots are initially counted for each elector's top choice. If a candidate secures more than half of these votes, that candidate wins. Otherwise, the candidate in last place is eliminated and removed from consideration. The top remaining choices on all the ballots are then counted again. This process repeats until one candidate is the top remaining choice of a majority of the voters. When the field is reduced to two, it has become an "instant runoff" that allows a comparison of the top two candidates head-to-head."

Re: [Proposal] [OOC] [On-going] [At-vote] Ranked Choice Voting in Presidental Elections
With the current list of member nations being as small as it is, the Crowns of Honorias do not believe that this proposal is necessary to the fair running of the World Alliance. At the moment, we abstain, but we ask the Republic of Teddyland to keep this idea in mind for a second look if circumstances require a change in the future.
